Minimalism is a way of living that can help us achieve a sense of happiness, but more importantly, peace of mind.
At its core, minimalism as a philosophy seeks to rid life of its excess.
This means getting rid of the unimportant things that cloud both our immediate space and our minds with clutter and stress.
Another key reason why minimalism works is that it forces us to actually appreciate what we already have.
instead of beginning a conversation by asking someone what they do for a living, you should instead discuss what you’re passionate about—what fulfills you.
minimalism is, certainly, about how you can acquire less, but it is also about figuring out how to replace this ‘space’ with meaningful conversations and experiences.
Spend less, own fewer tangible goods, and lead the happiest life that you can. It’s that simple.
When we decide to let go of our stuff, we are at the same time emotionally indicating to ourselves that it’s time to move on.
Clothes are meant to be worn. That’s is their only function.
When you use the word miscellaneous to define anything, you’re complying with a situation where randomness exists. From an organizational standpoint, this is the opposite of what you want.
Minimalism is all about cutting out the excess from your life—ensuring that you maximize whatever you purchase, and that what remains in your life has meaning, utility, and purpose.
My view is this: when you spend less money, you’re giving up less time and freedom, because you spend time and freedom to obtain that money in the first place.
Spending money on things that I value would mean I would, for instance, invest in traveling, because through traveling, I find happiness, I can gain knowledge and precious experiences, and therefore it is a worthwhile spend for me. By doing this, you’re essentially going through a process of self-reflection, which is crucial to the lifestyle of a minimalist. Through self-reflection, you can determine what matters, what experiences and things you value and need in your life.
Through self-reflection, you can determine where your hard-earned money is best spent. And through self-reflection, you will eventually end up saving money.
the goal of decluttering our relationships is to ultimately find more room in our lives for relationships that are healthy, exciting, and mutually beneficial.
So, the first step – just start. No matter how small the task or goal is, just start.
You’ll be able to take more time to notice the simple things in life, and this will provide you with a type of happiness that can never be bought.
