Finances are tight. New people don’t give. People are, without a doubt, consumers before they are contributors. That happens with people’s time and certainly their money.
With all of that being said, though, do you know the biggest challenge of being a leader? It’s this: eventually real leaders have to get out in front and actually lead. Only strong, gifted leaders are willing to do that.
Generally, when I walk into a church, it doesn’t take very long to determine if the church is targeting young adults (under thirty-five), middle-aged adults (thirty-five to fifty-four), or older adults (over fifty-four).
My encouragement for the churches who are in these early stages is to make the tough calls now, because it won’t get any easier.
