She pointed at the parking spot. It was the only one open and the only one that had a massive, glittery star on the sidewalk in front of it. Was that Remy’s face in the middle of all that gold glitter?
She shook her head. He was not taking her red Solo cup. Her red Solo cup was her friend. Her red Solo cup let her relax and not be worried or upset.
Lisa was glad he wasn’t the head of the education department. “You scare me.” Taggart’s whole face brightened. “Thank you. That is the nicest thing anyone has said to me in forever. You know, it’s like people think because you’re the king of the world you don’t need a few compliments.”
“Do you think so?” Riley asked. “After what happened with Ezra and his group? I don’t know. He hasn’t been the same since.” Remy didn’t like to think about what had happened to that group of men they called the Lost Boys, but it hadn’t been Big Tag’s fault. “He can’t blame himself. No one saw that coming.”
“I have no idea where she got that,” Tag said with a shake of his head. “And I always knew Jesse’s kid would end up being a sub. Never tell Charlie I said that.”
