Idealists cannot exist without three essential components: faith in the wisdom of the corporate entity, pragmatists to compare themselves to in order to manufacture meritocracy narratives, and opportunists to manipulate their naivety. If we build a true efficiencer movement, we turn legions of pragmatists into opportunists. The idealist, then, just sort of fades into the background of history. The pragmatists exit, making overpromotion moot. The opportunists, many of whom are former-pragmatist efficiencers, recognize a more efficient path to ownership than pyramid climbing. They also exit.
