Or even the function of the Arelius family; Eithan had introduced himself as a janitor, but Lindon couldn’t tell whether that was a joke.

I feel like Eithan is always dead serious, even when being super funny about it.

Eithan saw them and paused, as though he’d just noticed them. “Oh, I’m sorry, I hope I’m not interrupting anything.” Before they could respond, he added, “I was just being polite, I heard it all.”

In the mountains to the west of the Desolate Wilds, there was supposed to be a hidden valley that occasionally emerged to trade with the outside. The inhabitants were weak, but protected by a curse.
