I’ve taken a few liberties here with the timeline. In reality, the couple might be a few years older than they appear in the story, but for the sake of forgiveness, I’ve shaved off a few years.

But that wasn’t the hardest part. No, not seeing the colors that I would’ve decorated my own house in. Not even the bathroom done up exactly how I’d spoken with Tunnel about doing ours. The hardest part was lying in the bed later that night, smelling my husband for the first time in forever and crying my heart out. That, my friends, was the worst.

If you don’t have anything nice to say, say it anyway. Sometimes motherfuckers need to hear the truth. -Ghost’s secret thoughts
“You know, I’m not sure any of the club would ever talk about you to anyone but among themselves. It wouldn’t kill you to tell them that you’re alive.” “No,” I agreed. “But knowing it might get them killed and that is not a risk I’m willing to take.” And that was that.
sides, with tears running uncontrollably down her cheeks. She knew. I knew she knew. There was no doubt now that she knew exactly what was going on. Who I was. Who I once was. I saw the moment she compartmentalized it. Saw the moment that she decided that she couldn’t do it. She walked into the house, came back out moments later, still crying might I add, and walked back to her car. All the while I watched her, a sick knot in my stomach that was on the verge of pain. She got into her car, stared at me for a few more long moments, and then backed down the road, turned it sharply like she was in

first saw you at the baseball park,” she whispered so quietly that I could barely hear her words. “I’d look outside at night and imagine you there.” “I was there.” “I’d look over at one of Sienna’s school functions, thinking that I felt your gaze on me…” “I was at every single one.” She closed her eyes at the raw emotion in my voice.
“I don’t care if you have to roll around on the floor to get to where you need to go, I’d love you still,” I informed her, dropping a kiss to her collarbone.

He watched me with amusement. “I’m getting my clothes on so I can go,” he said evenly. “Why?” “You’re not leaving. If you leave, I’ll have to kill you.” His eyes shone with laughter. “That’s an awful lot of smack you’re talking when you can’t even put your underwear on while on standing up.” I flipped him off, then sat down on the bed to put my underwear on.

I looked at him, and his eyes were still on me. His narrowed, and I steeled myself, letting him study me straight on. He took his time, and it was a few long, uneasy moments for me. “Son of a fucking bitch!” Cleo exclaimed. Lynn walked in with Silas behind him. The minute that Lynn sat down, the entire room quieted. Conversations that the others were having quieted, and I tensed. But not because this was about to go down, but because Cleo was now standing. He leaned over the table, his hands steepled on top of it, only a few feet separating us. “I can see you’ve figured it out,” Silas drawled.

“All this time, we thought you were gone,” he rasped. “We’ve spent many Friday nights at your grave, mourning you, and you were alive this whole time.” I stared at him gravely. “I was,” I confirmed. “But my wife and daughter’s lives trump your feelings any day.” He stared for a moment. “As they should.” Then, for a few long seconds, we stood in awkward silence as the men around me stared at my bruised and bleeding face. “I used to sleep with it every night, too,” I murmured into her hair. “Why do you think she does it?” That was Mina.
