Kindle Notes & Highlights
The universe is desperately trying to move you into the only spot that truly belongs to you, in the whole entire thing, a space that only you can stand in. I believe it is up to you to decide every single day whether you are moving towards or away from that spot.
You were not put here to impress others, to be better than others or to beat others at all costs.
You were not put here to compare yourself to others and your success is not dependent on someone else’s failure.
You are in a box I keep filled with letters.
A mess without you. Something beautiful with you.
You fail with your heart on your sleeve.
You fail attempting the impossible and the ridiculous.
You fail beautifully
There are large parts of you that don’t exist yet.
The greatest you you could be, is still waiting to be found.
I don’t understand how you can be so worried about what might happen, when what might not happen, is so much worse.
But in the dark, stripped down to your bones, all that remains is you.
I tried so hard after they left to make my heart hard. And now you have undone all my hard work.
I know you and I see you when they scream storms at you, when they bury you beneath mountains, when they drown you in oceans, when they push you under and yet still you whisper from the deepest part of you: “No.”
“There you are. I know you.”
These are the things you do, when you’re afraid.
Those aren’t scars. That’s where life underlined the important parts of you.
When sadness was the sea, you were the one that taught me to swim.
And each day, it’s up to you, to yank your hand back, put it on your heart and say, “No. This is what’s important.”
Tell me again, the story of all the things I cannot do, so I can tell you the story of how I will do them.
P.S. You are beautiful and loved by the universe that made you, with every atom and star moving in perfect alignment to make you, you.
You have to make all of it up. You have to make all of it, yourself.
It may have just been a moment to you, but it changed every single one that followed for me.
The conversation between your fingers and someone else’s skin. This is the most important discussion you can ever have.
Maybe it’s because you’re one of those people that believes that sometimes, the most reckless thing you can do with your heart, is not being reckless with it.
I made myself from all the love you no longer wanted.
You will be looking into the eyes of someone you love and you will marvel at how the simple act of looking at them makes you happy and so maybe when the world ends, you will be ok with it ending.
You forget that even the strongest person to ever live had a weakest day of their life.
Late at night, here is somewhere else. And I wish I was more than your emergency contact number for a broken heart.
And in the end, I will break the stars and resurrect the sun.
You will only be hurt a finite number of times during your life. You have an infinite number of ways to deal with it.
And I promise you I’ll hold your hand. I’ll sit back and enjoy it. I’ll laugh at lightning. I’ll giggle at thunder. I’ll drink raindrops. I’ll lean into the wind. I’ll see the sun come out. And one day, I’ll cry for a storm that’s passed, never to come again.
This is the acceptance speech. The end of anger and denial. I accept that you and I will never be the same again. That while those days will live in my mind forever, they’re over. I hate it. But I accept it. And I’m moving on now.
The Point Of Contact
Never regret the price you pay to become who you are.
All the most beautiful things are made in a fire.
Out of 1000 hearts, I had to choose you. One of the comets sent to Earth to burn brightly, explode and turn to dust in my atmosphere.
I would find you down the line with broken wings, pick you up, and swear that you would taste the sky again.
Learn from them all you can. Everyone is a lesson. A story. A unique and wondrous perspective on the chaos that is human existence.
You are your own creation and only you decide how you feel, who you are and what you want.
Just so you know, there are certain people who were put here to break you. So you could learn how to pull yourself back together again.
Because only a hard heart shatters. Only a hard heart, breaks.
Like your brokenness is a symptom of being you.
Management can and will be held responsible for any loss, love, theft, ambition or personal injury.
When they are gone, you will remember every single opportunity you had to speak to them. And didn’t.
The Notes Before Now
And your heart is nothing but the gravity pulling me towards you.
If they put you back on the shelf, in exchange for someone else, don’t worry. I promise: Someone better’s coming along.
Love the ones you want to keep.
Maybe there’s some bright, secret sunlight somewhere in the universe that understands you, and knows what’s going on.
