American culture is probably the hardest place in the world to learn to pray.
We don’t learn to pray in isolation from the rest of our lives.
To ask God for change confronts us with our doubt about whether prayer makes any difference.
Jesus does not say, “Come to me, all you who have learned how to concentrate in prayer, whose minds no longer wander, and I will give you rest.”
Don’t try to get the prayer right; just tell God where you are and what’s on your mind. That’s what little children do.
