What I have discovered in reading memorials is that every one of them usually hits on the four areas of life mentioned above: family, friends, work, and acts of kindness. You have to take these memorials with a grain of salt, obviously, because objective criticism is not a feature of this genre. In addition, if you read closely, you can tell when the writer is struggling to come up with an example for one of these four categories. But the writers almost always try, which signals to me the universal importance of these four core categories.
