Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.

And that’s the final piece of this particular leadership rule. If you want people to live and breathe the vision, “show them the money” when they do, be it with salary, bonus, or significant recognition of some sort.

Remember, when you were made a leader you weren’t given a crown, you were given a responsibility to bring out the best in others.

Achieving work-life balance is a process. Getting it right is iterative. You get better at it with experience and observation, and eventually, after some time passes, you notice it’s not getting harder anymore. It’s just what you do.

If there is anything I would like to be remembered for it is that I helped people understand that leadership is helping other people grow and succeed. To repeat myself, leadership is not just about you. It’s about them.
