Human beings are basically huge monkeys that walk upright, but they can be pretty full of themselves.
The album was full of photos of a cat. I know what they call people like this. Cat fanatics.
Humans who think we don’t understand them are the stupid ones.
Because it was a very special thing – to have your own cat in your own home.

Sugi wished he’d been the one who’d come across the dog – the thought of saying this had crossed his mind. But if I had, I probably would have just let him be. Perhaps the most I would have done would have been to check on him on the way home.

WE CATS GET all limp and squishy when we have catnip; for humans, wine seems to do the trick.
I mean, who in the world came up with the idea of floating a huge lump of iron on top of water? Must have had a couple of screws loose, whoever it was. It stands to reason that a heavy object will sink. No other animal in the world would try to defy the laws of nature, but humans are a very peculiar species.
Given their size, I didn’t think they needed to worry. But animals have an instinct. Whatever their size, horses are grass eaters, and grass eaters have a long history of being hunted by meat eaters. This makes them timid and skittish. On the other hand, we cats may be small, but we’re hunters. And hunters are fighters. We’re on our guard, too, with creatures we don’t know, but when it comes to a fight we’re more than willing to face up to animals much bigger than us.
If you have to consider what’s going to happen after you die, life becomes doubly troublesome.
On our last journey, let’s see all kinds of amazing things. Let’s spend our time taking in as many wonderful sights as we can.
