Cripping animal ethics means many things to me, including acknowledging that some people may be politically vegan in the way I have described but unable to sustain themselves on vegan food. This is true for people who have little to no control over their food choices, such as those in prisons and nursing homes, but also for those disabled people who rely on other people (sometimes people they were unable to choose) for their care and meal preparation. Or perhaps, as with Dona Spring, eating a vegan diet is too extraordinarily difficult, if not impossible, due to extreme health issues. I see
