is part of the symmetry of life that as we age we descend slowly back into infancy. This reassumption of a self-absorbed and dependent status in preparation for death is discouraging for all concerned. How, and how rapidly, this occurs defines what we have learned in our years upon this earth. One reason for our fear of aging is that those who have gone before us have, in general, set a poor example. Most families I talk to see their aging relatives as a burden.
