The religiosity of the early scientific pioneers is also cited today by sophists who claim that science and religious doctrine are compatible, but who confuse science and scientists. In spite of frequent appearances to the contrary, scientists are people. And like all people they are capable of holding many potentially mutually contradictory notions in their head at the same time.
