The argument from dependency is supported by the Islamic intellectual tradition. The concept of an independent Being that is responsible for bringing everything into existence is highlighted in various places in the Qur’an. For example, God says: “God is independent of all that exists (al-ameen).”[163] “O mankind! It is you who stand in need of God, whereas He alone is self-sufficient, the One whom all praise is due.”[164]
