“I want to feel . . . like the me I used to know. I want to feel alive. I want to wake up and smile. I want to accomplish things, to feel powerful. I want to have things to look forward to, have goals, find someone that wants to laugh with me, go hiking, or get ice cream.
“My desk is a creative climate,” I suggest. “It’s been proven that the smartest people in the world work in an atmosphere other people would call disorderly.”
“I want to do all the things you ask of me and do them better than you ever expected they could be done.”
“You were making a point today.” Graham takes the final step to close the distance between us, our chests nearly touching. “Point. Made.”
I gasp a quick breath. “Now it’s my turn to make a fucking point.” With that, his lips cover mine and I melt into his arms.
Me: Any tips going forward? Her: Use your mouth more, Mr. Landry. It’s how deals are made.
“You can get up every day and decide what you are going to accomplish, what goals you’re going to work towards. Think about that. Every morning is an opportunity to change what you aren’t happy with.”
“I’d never cut you down. The only people who cut others down are those threatened by their height. The higher you get, the more lovely I think you are.”
I’m aware I’m an addict and I measure my drugs in Grahams. Just like anyone that has
an insatiable craving for something, I want to horde the remaining moments I have with him because once it’s over, it’s over.
“I love you, Dani. I love you more than I ever thought I could love anyone,” he says, his tone heavy with emotion. “You make me a better version of me, even though I didn’t think that was possible.”
Love isn’t the words you use to say it, but the actions you take to prove it’s true. Graham
