It was necessary for God to do this because the sin nature within each of us separates us from God. All of us have sinned and come short of God’s glory (see Rom. 3:23). The penalty for our sin is death (see Rom. 6:23). We all know this to be true which is why we are afraid of God. Jesus took all of this on Himself at the Cross.
