The flags of each tribe point us to the real banner of God, Jesus our Lord, as He is portrayed in the four gospels. In Matthew, Jesus is presented as the King of the Jews (the lion from the tribe of Judah). In Mark, He is the suffering servant (the ox). In Luke, He is the Son of Man. In John, Jesus is revealed as the Son of God (the greatest heavenly being). As the Son of God, Jesus represents God to man. As the Son of Man, He represents man to God. Like the Levite, He stands between God and man shielding man from the judgment of God by His blood.
