Christian ministers usually teach that, in the Old Testament, the Jews were saved by the Law but that has been replaced by grace and mercy in the New Testament. This is just not true. Everyone who has ever approached God had to do so in faith in the the grace and mercy of God provided by the blood of the innocent substitutionary sacrifice for their sins.
