Every kid had an older brother or cousin or friend on the block who had been there and come back changed.
This part touched me deeply. After having read "Playing with Fire" by Lawrence O'Donnell, one can feel the numbed pain of the drafts to send young American boys to Vietnam. It was such a horrible loss, not to mention the loss, the pain and the wounds that fell also on that part of Asia and all the lives and lands it touched.
