On September 5, 1919, at a convention at Cedar Point, Ohio, Rutherford announced the launch of a new magazine titled The Golden Age (which, in later years, would be known by the name Awake!). Just as with The Finished Mystery, the launch of a new periodical was a flagrant violation of the Pastor’s expressed wish that “no other periodicals” and “no other publications in any manner or degree” were to be published—but the window for protest had long passed.
