Paul is not attempting to distinguish between those vessels blessed with effectual salvation and those vessels cursed with reprobation, as the Calvinists contend.[130] Instead, he is drawing a distinction between those vessels blessed to carry out the noble purpose of fulfilling God’s promise and those vessels hardened in their rebellion in order to ensure the fulfillment of that same promise.
