“Oh, Michael, that fear will never go away. The part of you that is scared will always be scared.” At first Michael looked a bit stunned. But after letting the words touch his heart, he said, “Wow, that’s the most comforting thing anybody has told me about this whole situation.” It wasn’t resignation; it was an understanding that while the fear was there, he was aware of the fear, and he could access that dimension of himself that was not scared.
