“The organ presents a harmonic entity based on the augmented triad Gb-Bb-D, over drums and bass,” wrote Tamm. “Fripp’s guitar enters playing a broken Gb dominant seventh chord with added flatted third—Fripp’s beloved major/minor ambiguity. The harmony shifts systematically to Bb7 and then to D7, as it were developing the implications in the original augmented chord.”
