Emotions rule people. The stronger the emotion, the more vivid and influential it becomes.
There are some words spoken too softly for ears. But they are spoken still. There are some truths we can experience with our eyes and still not see.
“One cannot destroy evil, little sister. It can only be bound for a season. It plants its seeds the moment we stop fighting against it.
When a person has little or nothing left to lose, it alters their thinking. Risks they naturally would avoid become acceptable . . . no matter how far-fetched.
People are superstitious. They always fear what they do not understand. They believe in traditions handed down to them by dead ancestors. They do not question how those traditions were formed. They toss coins into water and think they are transmuted into prayers.
Many of the people who refused to leave probably were unwilling to forsake their treasures. All we have will be reclaimed by the Deep Fathoms eventually. Why cling to what is not truly ours?”
