“Motion carried,” Asher announced, pulling his cell phone out of his pocket. “You’re stuck with us now, sweetie. Phone numbers.” I smirked at them. Suckers, they were the ones stuck with me.
“You just met those boys today, and you’re already thinking of them not being your friends anymore?” Rory pointed out frowning at me. “You can’t go through life thinking everyone is going to leave you, Lexie.”
Jessica pushed herself off the wall and turned, her face red. “You fucking bitch-” “No, honey, you’re the fucking bitch in this scenario,” I snapped, my voice hard. “You had her cornered in a bathroom telling her to kill herself.”
“Did you tell them?” I asked, my voice shaking. Please tell me you didn’t, please tell me you lied your ass off. “Just the basics, that you see the dead, that the Sight runs in the family,” Rory answered me. My stomach dropped, my chest aching. “I wanted to leave the details to you.” I closed my eyes, tears pouring down my face. It happened; it really happened. A week, it took one fucking week for them to find out. I pulled my knees to my chest; I rested my forehead on them and covered my head with my arms as I cried. It was over. They knew I was a freak; they were gone.
“Lexie, you're not a freak, honey. And you’re not alone,” Rory whispered into my hair. I hadn’t even realized I spoke out loud. I shook my head. I didn’t care. It was over. “They’re gone,” I gasped as everything poured out of me. I had nothing left. I didn’t have any more fight. I was done. My heart was a raw and aching pit inside my chest. Just let the fucking dead have me, this hurt too much. I can’t take this anymore.
Asher came down in blue and white striped, drawstring bottoms and a white, ribbed tank top that showed off the muscles in his arms and his wide chest that tapered down to narrow hips. I took a deep breath; this being friends with hot guys was going to be harder than I thought.
Seeing one of them like this I could handle, but seeing all of them together… I had to remind myself to breathe. Thankfully, no one seemed to notice my ogling. Rule one of being friends with guys: don’t get caught drooling. I had to remember that.
I spotted Asher and Zeke in the hallway, Asher was chatting up a blonde. He was smiling down at her as he was listening. Aw, she was cute. Zeke spotted me and left Asher to the blonde. He met me in the middle of the hall.
