My gamer brain immediately thinks of all the gaming strategies possible with character stats like this. I usually min/max my stats when I play games but that’s when it’s a game. If I want to survive here, I’ll have to think of a better strategy than maximizing a single stat for the largest bonus.
Min/maxing is about getting the absolute best results you can for your role.
E.g. damage dealers, doing the most dps they can.
So if your role is to survive solo while doing dps you can still min/max your stats to achieve that.
Min/maxing is using your attribute points, gear, and skills efficiently and without waste.
Diablo 2 at endgame was the epitome of min/maxing as an example.
Get min/maxing right.
“Your very fate as a destined hero,” Rex responds with a serious look on his face. The room is oddly quiet as everyone looks at Rex. With a loud groan, the silence is broken by Keans. “You’re so serious, Rex. Don’t make it sound like he’s the only hope against a demon horde or anything else from some fairy tale. Boy, we’re just talking about what you’re going to be doing from here on.”
Still don't know if rex was joking or not here. Hope he was. Having people who already know about him or were looking for him, find him already would be annoying. Give the lad a chance to escape all that bs at least.
Also if it WAS just a joke, as jokes go, it was pretty poor. And poorly written, Rex wouldn't be the sort to make a joke like that, you've portrayed him as the grumpy sort.
Not many people in my world would help out a total stranger this much. I’m lucky to have been rescued by them. I’ll have to think of some way to pay them back, though. Then a thought occurs to me.
So he doesn't suspect them at all? Naive protagonist i guess. Makes sense considering his sense of "humor"
I sigh in relief hearing that I won’t be a burden to them. Even though I’ve only known these people a very short time I feel like they care about me.
More like they didn't fall for his half baked bs and figured out what he is and want to use him. Or the author is just forcing the story to go with way unnaturally.
Probably the latter.
It still amazes me that only a few days ago this arm was a ruined broken mess. I can still remember the agonizing pain from the teeth of the worg tearing into my flesh and the sound of bones breaking as its jaws clamped down. Magic in this world is truly amazing. I can’t wait to learn it.
Honestly he should be dead. The worgs first attack did 18 damage, the kid has 20 or 21 hp. Then the worg attacked him again, and im pretty sure it woulda done more than 3 damage. Instead it did 0 that we were told of.
Lilliandra begins to speak in a language I don’t understand. At the same time, she extends the index finger of her right hand and it emits a glow as she writes some strange symbols in the air. When she finishes the last symbol, she stops speaking and a bright globe of white light appears about two feet above the table. The light is so bright it partially blinds me and I have to shade my eyes with my hand. Lilliandra speaks a single word, writes a symbol in the air and the light vanishes. I blink my eyes trying to get rid of the spots I see.
“I was reading a shifter romance story from your world and ‘Don’t work me too hard’ was what she said.”
Backstory for the fairy already please. How does she have access to books from Earth? She's supposed to be a guide. And the MC is the first person from earth to be reincarnated in this world, so it's not like other earthlings brought their fiction with em.
Suddenly my body freezes up and I fall backward, axe slipping from my hands as I hit the ground. Rex kneels next to me and says gruffly. “First lesson Armon. Always know your limits. You need to always be aware of how much stamina you have when you're fighting. If you run out, this happens. Even the strongest man in the world is helpless when his stamina runs out.”
He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small vial. He pours the content of the vial down my throat. Blegh, tastes like moldy sweat socks. My body unfreezes. I wipe my mouth of the foul taste and sit up. “What was that?” “That was a bit of a stamina potion. Most groups carry at least one vial in case someone runs out of stamina during a battle. Tastes terrible but better than dying to a foe’s blade.” So they have stamina potions?
So you had the MC be stupid so you can show us that stamina pots are a thing? There are better ways. Also this guide fairy is useless, had a week in the forest to flood him with useful info and apparently told him shit all.
“Good, you’ve learned your lesson. Don’t let pride push you past your limits.” He then walks away and resumes his own tree chopping.
Fuck off. The kids a gamer, so he should already know this lesson for one, since every gamer watches their hp/mana/stamina bars all the time, and he learned this irl on his first hour of working out. Get your shit together author.
She then proceeds to point to the work I completed earlier and comments on several mistakes I made in my writing. Overall she’s pleased with how well I’m doing after only a day but expects me to do better tomorrow.
If he had the fairy helping him why are there mistakes? Also if she's pleased with his progress why does she expect him to do better? Sounds like she isn't pleased with it if that's the case
The only thing I can say to that is a dejected “Oh.” I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed. There go all my grand dreams of becoming a potions master like Professor Snape. “Don’t crush the kid’s dreams, Keans,” Rex calls out from the table. Lilliandra nods in agreement. Mary is giving Keans the stink eye and making faces at him. It loses some of its effects though since he can’t see her.
They all act like he did something horrible. But he was just saying not yet, wtf. Their reactions aren't believable at all.
Also who has dreams of being snape? The fuck.
get 5 XP
Shouldn't he be level 2 about now? Spent a week hunting rabbits to feed himself and the fairy, so that's 2 rabbits per night for dinner. Throw in another 2 for lunch or breakfast per day. 28 rabbits.
But then the first lvl 1 rabbit we see him kill doesn't give XP for some reason. Which doesn't make sense in any game or other book, killing something your own level always gives XP.
So unless creatures of the same level don't give XP we have to assume it was a mistake.
So since the lvl 3 rabbit gave 15XP a lvl 1 rabbit should give 5XP. 28x5=140 just from the week of lvl 1 rabbits. Plus all the experience for the first rabbit, then the lvl 3 rabbit, then the quests... Experience to get to lvl 2 is 100XP.
So he should be well over lvl 2 by now.
