If we want to defy gravity by hovering, we’re currently limited to technologies such as lighter-than-air crafts, vehicles with ducted fans (like toy drones), rotary wings, or jet propulsion. These technologies only work up to a maximum altitude or ceiling, above which there isn’t enough air pressure for them to function properly. The operational ceiling of repulsorlift technology isn’t based on air pressure, though. It’s meant to work by pushing against a planet’s gravity.
