Society tells us that sexuality is a two-way street, straight or gay, pick one and move on. But I think that’s wrong. I don’t even think sexual categories exist, really – it’s like the wind. When is the wind ever blowing exactly north, south, east or west?
I love you for you, and I love you for who I am with you. You made me better than I was before. You taught me the world was so much bigger than I ever knew it was. You are more alive than anyone I have ever known, and it makes me want to live that much brighter, too. It was only ever you.
That’s when I decide I am never again going to let the world make me feel bad for something I feel. Because choosing to love is never wrong. Love is the cleanest thing in the world.
I’m not going to let them force me to pick a label, a category, a box. Feelings are the messiest things in the world – how could I ever categorize something like feelings? I couldn’t. All I could do was follow them. Because love does not exist between men and women. Love does not exist between blondes and brunettes. Love does not exist between Caucasian people and Asian people. Love exists between humans.
As I grow older I am starting to learn that a human life is not made of just one life. We are a million little shifting periods and jumping moods and switching phases, seasons made of joy and anguish and pain and heartbreak and sheer, wild bliss. Some of our seasons last years, some are over within minutes.
