We start off in the natural or soulish stage of being, like the first Adam, and then in regeneration we enter into a new condition.

Adam started out with the breath of God in him, which made him a living being animated with God’s Spirit (Genesis 2:7). When he disobeyed God’s one commandment and at the forbidden fruit, he died. His soul and body still lived, but the spiritual connection was broken and decay set in (Genesis 2:16-17 & 3:1-22).

True repentance is a change of mind with regard to everything. Instead of saying, “It’s only a change of mind,” it seems more truthful to say it is a great and deep change – even a change of the mind itself.

Repentance is to leave The sins we loved before And show that we in earnest grieve, By doing so no more.

True belief and true repentance are twins.

With true simplicity of heart, he must seek to please God, whether men and women are pleased or not.

As soon as a man lets his work become a matter of mere form or routine, it sinks into a performance in which the preacher is simply an actor. He is only acting a part, as he might in a play at the theatre, and not speaking from his inmost soul, as a man sent from God.

it is far more pleasant to learn a reward is offered for bringing men to mercy and that the payment ranks higher than the one extended for bringing men to justice.

It says, There is joy in the presence of the angels of God. That means joy in the heart of God, around whose throne the angels stand.
