“You are common—and I don’t say that as a criticism. Commoners look at the world through the lens of a single lifetime. In a hundred years, no one will remember your name. You are as indistinguishable as grains of sand on the beach. “Monarchs see the world through the prism of legacy. Ask Nicholas; he’ll tell you the same. What will we leave behind? God, I love these lines!! Definitely one of my favorites out of all of Royally Screwed. The Queen fascinates me. To have the burden of caring for an entire nation of people, while at the same time wanting the same happiness and joy for her grandsons that “typical” Granny’s want - and knowing those two desires will often come in conflict, is not an easy thing. This section goes a long way into explaining and showing how the Queen thinks, feels and makes the choices she ultimately makes.
