DevOps—the word comes from combining development with operations—is a set of ideas and processes that make it possible for teams to release software frequently, reliably, and with less risk than before. DevOps is the technical and infrastructure foundation layer of what we’ve been talking about throughout this book, so it’s worth spending a few minutes on the basic concepts that go into it and the impact it has on organizations.
