At some level, this definition of foolishness is difficult to accept because we tend to associate the ability to make good decisions with the accumulation of knowledge. We tend to believe that coming to a good decision is simply a matter of collecting the right data and processing it mentally. So we rely on “expert” advice (whether that advice comes from a PhD or lifestyle blogger), and the more facts we gather, the more confident we become.
