Given her perceived mentality, this level of scrutiny for this long a time makes little sense. This is a poor choice as a plot device.

I agree. Even given a paladins restrictions, forcing his party to save an attacker who has poisoned him seems idiotic. Also her plans to sell off his friends for torture do not qualify as evil?
