He was as much concerned about the future of the jagirdars as about the future of the tenants. There was certainly no sadistic socialism in his make-up. He felt that if the jagirdars were dispossessed without equitable compensation, their basis of livelihood would be gone and they would be ready recruits to the ranks of anti-social elements in the country.
