It was weird, though, to miss someone you didn’t know, someone who was a complete stranger.
He laughed in a hard burst. “Jesus Christ, I can’t believe this is all over someone like him. Who the hell is that piece of shit anyway—” “He’s your fucking brother,” she snapped. “That’s who he is.”
“I can’t control the whole world.” “No, but you can control yourself. It’s a lesson I’m just learning.”
And for the first time in her life, she respected what she saw.
“I can’t do this…I can’t do this job…it’s not me…”
“They are my family,” the fallen angel choked out as he covered his face with his hands. “They are my family…”
V thought for a moment she would notice that he was walking away and come after him. But she didn’t. And again, he thought as he limped to the office and headed for the tunnel alone, he was not surprised.
