Revolver was one of the Eighties’ most influential album releases, up there with Thriller and Legend and Straight Outta Compton, up there with 1999 and Appetite for Destruction and the Big Chill soundtrack. It might sound strange to call Revolver an Eighties album, but like Legend or The Big Chill, it created new ways to access pop history as a living thing.
