Friedrich von Schiller wrote about “aesthetical play” in 1794, displaying remarkable forward thinking.343 He references nature to illustrate how imagination, which he understands as a natural, wild, and abundant energy, makes the leap into aesthetical play as it finds form and creates beauty.344
