Those men could have been sent ahead to help Das kill you—they could have slipped into the city as recently as a couple of weeks ago.” He stared worriedly into space as another possibility occurred to him. “Or they may have been sent ahead for a different purpose entirely, and Alaris simply took advantage of their presence here.” Caeden swallowed. “A different purpose…like what?”
