From their vantage, down through the trees, she saw a cairn amid the triangle formed by the three aged structures. “It’s an old horse trough,” the old man said. “Hence the horse on the stone. The numbers 1847 were once engraved on the trough, as they were once engraved here in the church. It’s significant to the former name of this place.
