Prayer and Scripture reading are our spiritual food, necessary for nourishment and growth.
prayer is not me asking God into my world to solve my problems, but God asking me into his world to serve his purposes.
But Jesus tells his disciples that the way to pray is to our Father. And by Father, he doesn’t mean just another title, but a relationship. So the context in which we pray is the context of family, where we as children approach a loving father.
I love this. I need to remember it. I always say Heavenly Father, or Father God. Sometimes I say just Father. Lately I’ve been randomly addressing all three of the God head.
fatherhood means access.
Furthermore, it means attention – I’m heard. Do you see how praying in the context of the child–Father relationship puts the whole thing on a different footing?
if our prayers are ‘us-less’ they’re close to being useless, because if my praying is centred around only me, I’m not praying according to the Father’s will.
