In 1977, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Health, Calspan scientists investigated “materials compatible with human blood” in an effort to develop better prosthetic devices.247 The lead scientist on that project, Dr. Robert Baier (who worked on the 1973 project), happened to hold many positions related to military, industry and university biotechnologies research, won many awards for his innovations in that area, and is widely published on the topics of dental and medical implant technology. So perhaps he might have been able to figure out what was going on in McVeigh’s mouth and elsewhere.
