As Pastor Winans sang with his usual moving grace, all I could think about was how little time we truly have with the ones we love. I never saw this coming, had no idea my mother would leave for the other side of glory this soon. There was so much I wanted to give her before she left this side of heaven. She would say I’d given her enough with returning home, settling in a career—or two—and eventually marrying. Still, I knew she deserved more for all the heartache I caused her in my youth, and the neglect she endured recently. Everyone neglected her. I was no better to her than him.
