However, it is hardly possible to convey serious mathematical ideas without the use of a certain amount of notation. I appreciate that there will be many readers who are uncomfortable with these things. My advice to such readers is basically just to read the words and not to bother too much about trying to understand the equations. At least, just skim over the various formulae and press on.
