“I’d been nervous about it until tonight,” he admitted. I nodded, understanding. “Why not tonight?” I asked. “I almost lost you.” Sometimes he spoke so honestly it made me ache. “It made me realize the only thing I was truly scared of was anything you weren’t around for.”
