“Leave her alone,” I hiss, grabbing his collar and yanking him toward me before I’m even aware I’ve done it. The two of us stare at each other in shock. It’s the first time since we were kids that I’ve even come close to threatening him, and both of us know it.
She sinks back in her seat. “So what's your grand plan, Will?" she scoffs. "You gonna tie me to the bed? Because I'll warn you in advance I really, really like that."
“That’s my girl,”
“Fuck it,” he sighs, grabbing my other hand. “This goes no further than this room.”
I carry her to her room. It’s funny that I grew up here, but in a short period of time it’s become Olivia’s room. It will always be her room, even when she’s no longer here.
“You already make everything better,” I tell him. “And you’re the only one who ever has.”
I’m here because I love you. Because I’m so in love with you, I can’t see straight.”
For the first time in my life, I feel safe.
