All of the recommendations here are too much busy work in my opinion. Just not enough time in the day to do something like those. I am fine with IEW Phonetic Zoo and already own the cards. I also truly like Logic of English Essentials 2nd edition. I'd like to get it back in our school days.
We have Shurley 1-4, but I also really like Logic of Essentials 2nd edition for grammar. I also have Rod & Staff English 3, 4, & 6 but I have not used it and do not have an opinion.
First Language Lessons for the Well-Trained Mind.
Charlotte and I did lots of this orally and it was just crazy easy. We transitioned to Seton English 1, and it was a breeze but really enjoyable. Now to Shurley, which is fine but time consuming and lots of written work it seems. Again, I like Logic of English Essentials 2nd edition for this.

The third-grade book is called Beginning Wisely: English 3, the fourth- grade book is called Building with Diligence: English 4, and the series is unabashedly Christian (Rod & Staff is a Mennonite publisher).
Don’t feel that you need to complete every exercise if the child understands the concept.

Memoria Press has removed this from their Classical Core Curriculum in favor of IEW Bible Heroes (2nd) and All Things Fun & Fascinating (3rd), continuing with MP Classical Composition in 4th grade.
Memoria Press had it in the Classical Core, but took it out and replaced it with IEW All Things Fun & Fascinating. We are enjoying this so far.
Best for fourth grade or advanced third graders, this can be used as a fourth year after Writing With Ease or as an independent one-year practice course.
