His eyes released me, and his gaze lifted over my shoulder, toward the Nile. The brilliant sun at his back outlined his body, illuminating gold in his dark brown hair. His beard, and its foreignness, momentarily fascinated me.
swallowed hard against the fear that wrapped its tentacles around my throat,
