The professional atheist Christopher Hitchens made just this error in a widely viewed online video that he prepared for Vanity Fair. In it, he contrasts the commandment “Thou shalt not kill” (which, as we’ll see in chapter 38, is actually a mistranslation) with Moses’s actions afterward, when, Hitchens says, Moses ordered all his supporters to draw their swords and kill their friends.
