Shortly before being recruited by the US, Osama bin Laden had been studying the Quran and jihad at his university. The work of Sayyid Qutb had directly impacted bin Laden; in fact, Sayyid Qutb’s brother and sympathizer, Muhammad Qutb, was one of bin Laden’s professors.
